Chile: Inflation rises further in May
Consumer prices increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.27% in May over the previous month, following the 0.38% rise seen in April. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transport and for alcoholic beverages and tobacco grew the most.
Inflation rose to an over one-year high of 3.7% in May from April’s 3.3%. Meanwhile, annual average inflation was unchanged at the previous month’s 2.9% in May. Lastly, core inflation rose to 3.1% from 2.9% in April, marking the highest reading since October 2016.
