Chile: Inflation falls to over two-year low in December
Inflation came in at 3.9% in December, which was down from November’s 4.8%. December’s reading marked the weakest inflation rate since June 2021. The result was largely driven by slower growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.6% in December (November: 8.3%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 4.1% in December, from the previous month’s 4.7%.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.53% over the previous month in December, contrasting the 0.75% rise recorded in November. December’s result marked the weakest reading since January 2009.
