China: Growth in house prices accelerates in March
House prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities rose 0.4% in March in month-on-month terms according to a weighted average index calculated by Thomson Reuters from data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The print was up from February’s 0.2% increase. According to the NBS, the sale prices of newly constructed residential buildings increased in 55 cities (44 in February).
House prices rose 4.9% annually in March, easing from a 5.2% increase in February. Annual average growth in house prices fell to 7.2% in March from 7.7% in February, marking the lowest level since November 2016.
