China: Housing market loses steam in September
House prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities were flat month-on-month in September, according to a weighted average index calculated by Refinitiv from data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The print was down from August’s 0.2% increase.
House prices increased 3.8% annually in September, down from August’s 4.2% increase. Annual average growth in house prices fell from 4.4% in August to 4.3% in September. The decelerating housing market in recent months has likely been driven by the government’s measures aimed at boosting housing affordability and limiting speculation in the sector.
