China: Housing market momentum ebbs further in July
House prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities increased 0.3% in July in month-on-month terms according to a weighted average index calculated by Refinitiv from data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The print was down from June’s 0.5% increase.
House prices increased 4.6% annually in July, down from June’s 4.7% increase. Annual average growth in house prices dipped from 4.5% to 4.4%.
Easing momentum in July could be linked to the impact of recent government measures to limit financial risks, including limits on property loans. These measures could weigh further on the property sector later in H2.
