Colombia: Consumer confidence decreases in January
According to a survey elaborated by Fedesarrollo, consumer confidence came in at minus 28.6 in January, down from December’s minus 22.3. January’s result marked the worst reading since May 2021. As a result, the index remained entrenched below the 0-point threshold, indicating sustained pessimism among consumers.
The deterioration was due to greater pessimism in consumers’ views of the economy at present and in the 12 months ahead. More positively, consumers became less pessimistic about their financial situations in the 12 months ahead.
