Colombia: Industrial production growth weakens in June
According to data released by Colombia’s National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) on 14 August, the industrial sector lost pace again in June, with output rising 1.3% over the same month of the previous year. This followed a 2.9% year-on-year expansion in industrial production in May.
Looking at a breakdown of the data showed that 23 out of the 39 industrial activities recorded an upturn in output, while the remaining 16 categories saw a contraction. Driving the downturn in June were contractions in both output of mill products and production of clothing, which contrasted an expansion in the previous month. Moreover, manufacture of non-metallic mineral products fell more sharply in June compared to July.
Annual average growth in industrial production edged up to 1.2% in June, from 1.0% in May.
