Colombia: Inflation holds steady in September
Consumer prices rose 0.23% over the previous month in September, following a 0.09% month-on-month increase in August. September’s uptick chiefly reflected higher prices for food, as well as for education.
Inflation was steady at August’s 3.8% in September. Thus, it remained within the Central Bank’s target range of 3.0% plus or minus 1.0 percentage points. Meanwhile, annual average inflation inched up to 3.4%, from 3.3% in August.
Core consumer prices, which exclude volatile items including fresh food and fruit, rose 0.1% over the previous month in August—the latest month for which data is available—matching July’s figure. Lastly, core inflation inched up to 3.4% in July, from 3.3% a month prior.
