Colombia: Inflation inches up in June
Consumer prices rose 0.27% over the previous month in June, following a 0.31% month-on-month increase in May. The moderation largely reflected a smaller upturn in the prices for accommodation, water, electricity and gas compared to the previous month.
Inflation ticked up to 3.4% in June from 3.3% in May, remaining within the Central Bank’s target band of 3.0% plus or minus 1.0 percentage points. Meanwhile, annual average inflation inched up to 3.4% in June from 3.3% in May.
Core consumer prices, which exclude volatile items including fresh food and fruit, rose 0.2% over the previous month in May—the latest month for which data is available—following a 0.4% month-on-month upturn in April. Lastly, core inflation edged down to 3.2% in May from 3.3% in April.
