Colombia: Exports jump at the start of 2020
Exports jumped 11.7% in January over the same month a year earlier, contrasting the 1.9% year-on-year drop in December. January’s upturn reflected a marked increase in exports of fuels and products of extractive industries.
In December—the latest month for which data is available—imports fell 2.6% over the same month of 2018, which contrasted the 6.5% increase recorded in November.
Meanwhile, the trade deficit narrowed to USD 540 million in December from the USD 580-million shortfall in the same month of 2018.
