Colombia: Merchandise exports fall in September
Merchandise exports plummeted 41.4% in annual terms in September (August: -12.2% year-on-year). September’s outturn marked the worst fall since April 2020. Meanwhile, merchandise imports plummeted 26.9% in annual terms in September (August: -25.8% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 1.7 billion deficit in September (August 2023: USD 1.1 billion deficit; September 2022: USD 1.4 billion deficit). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 13.3 billion deficit in September, compared to the USD 13.0 billion deficit in August.
