Colombia: Merchandise exports rise at weaker pace in December
Merchandise exports rose 4.6% on an annual basis in December (November: +8.7% year-on-year). November’s result was the worst since February 2021. Meanwhile, merchandise imports decreased 6.3% on an annual basis in December (November: -7.4% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 2.0 billion shortfall in December (November 2022: USD 1.0 billion deficit; December 2021: USD 1.8 billion deficit). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 15.4 billion deficit in December, compared to the USD 15.9 billion deficit in November.
