Colombia: Merchandise exports slide in June
Merchandise exports plummeted 26.5% in annual terms in June (May: -2.8% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports plunged 20.3% over the same month last year in June (May: -18.4% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 1.9 billion deficit in June (May 2023: USD 0.6 billion deficit; June 2022: USD 2.1 billion deficit). Lastly, the trend pointed up, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 15.2 billion deficit in June, compared to the USD 15.4 billion deficit in May.
