Costa Rica: Economic activity growth wanes in June
Economic activity expanded 2.9% in year-on-year terms in June, which followed May’s 5.4% increase. June’s notable deterioration came on the back of a deceleration in the manufacturing and information and communication sectors. However, agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors declined at a softer rate.
Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 4.8% in June (May: +5.2%), pointing to a worsening trend. On a monthly basis, economic activity declined 0.7% in seasonally adjusted terms in June, contrasting May’s 1.9% expansion and marking the worst result since March 2023.
