Costa Rica: Economic activity growth deteriorates in May
Economic activity expanded 5.2% in year-on-year terms in May, which was a deterioration from April’s 8.8% increase. The notable deceleration came on the back of a contraction in the agricultural sector, and slowdows in the manufacturing, and information and communication sectors.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, economic activity rose 2.0% in May (April: -0.3% mom), the best result since July 2022. Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 5.2% in May (April: +5.4%), pointing to a worsening trend.
