Costa Rica: Economic activity growth gains steam in August
Economic activity grew 7.0% year on year in August (July: +5.4% yoy). The improvement was chiefly driven by a marked acceleration in manufacturing output growth. That said, the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector contracted in August.
Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth rose to 5.1% in August (July: +4.8%), pointing to an improving trend.
On a monthly basis, economic activity increased 1.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in August, which was better than July’s flat reading.
