Costa Rica: Consumer prices record biggest fall since March 2016 in June
Consumer prices decreased 1.0% on an annual basis in June, contrasting May’s 0.9% rise. June’s result marked the largest fall in consumer prices since March 2016. The figure was primarily due to slower growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for transportation dropped at a sharper pace.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 6.5% in June (May: 7.4%).
Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.16% in June over the previous month, largely in line with May’s 0.11% drop.
