Costa Rica: Consumer prices record smallest fall since May 2023 in May
Consumer prices decreased 0.3% in annual terms in May, a smaller drop compared to April’s 0.5% year-on-year fall. May’s result marked the smallest dip in consumer prices since May 2023. The print was driven by a smaller decline in transportation prices and stronger price pressures for housing and utilities.
The trend pointed down mildly, with the annual average variation of consumer prices coming in at minus 1.6% in May (April: -1.5%).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.08% over the previous month in May, moderating from the 0.33% increase seen in April.
