Costa Rica: Inflation rises in January
Consumer prices rose 0.37% from the previous month in January, a smaller increase than the 0.48% increase logged in December. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a weaker rate in January, while prices for transportation swung into contraction.
Inflation came in at 3.5% in January, which was up from December’s 3.3% and marked the highest figure since February 2015. Consequently, the trend also rose, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.9% in January (December’s 1.7%).
