Croatia: Harmonized inflation falls to over two-year low in May
Harmonized inflation fell to 4.3% in May from April’s 4.7%. May’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since October 2021. The softer rise was largely driven by slower growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for transportation and for recreation grew at a softer pace.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 6.1% in May (April: 6.4%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 3.3% in May from April’s 3.8%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.19% in May over the previous month, which was below April’s 1.02% increase. May’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
