Croatia: Inflation moderates in December
Consumer prices dropped 0.4% in December compared to the previous month, following a flat reading in November. According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the strongest drops were registered in prices of clothing and footwear, food and non-alcoholic beverages and recreation and culture.
Inflation edged down to 1.2% in December from the previous month’s 1.4%. However, annual average inflation rose to 1.1% in December, up from 1.0% in the prior month and the highest reading since February 2014.
The core consumer price index, which omits volatile categories such as fresh food and energy, dropped 0.7% over the previous month in December, following a flat reading in November. Meanwhile, core inflation inched down to 1.4% from 1.5% in the previous month.
