Croatia: Harmonized inflation drops in January
Harmonized inflation came in at 4.8% in January, which was down from December’s 5.4%. January’s figure represented the lowest inflation rate since November 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and beverages rose at a more moderate pace in January compared to the previous month. Moreover, price pressures for recreation and restaurants and hotels softened.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 7.8% in January (December: 8.4%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 4.1% in January, from the previous month’s 4.5%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.29% over the previous month in January, largely in line with the 0.30% drop seen in December. January’s uptick was the highest reading since October 2023.
