Cyprus: Inflation returns in April
Consumer prices rose 0.82% over the previous month in April, moderating from March’s 1.30% reading. April’s downturn was largely owing to a softer increase in prices for clothing and footwear, as well as transportation.
On an annual basis, consumer prices rose 1.6% in April, contrasting’s March’s 0.7% slide, and putting an end to a 12-month streak of falling prices. Accordingly, the annual average variation in consumer prices improved, coming in at minus 1.0% in April (March: -1.3%). Lastly, harmonized inflation came in at 1.2% in April, following March’s 0.3% rise.
