Czech Republic: Industrial output bounces back in April
Industrial output rose 0.6% month on month in seasonally adjusted terms in April, which contrasted March’s 1.6% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, April’s upturn was largely driven by a rebound in manufacturing production. In contrast, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply output fell at a quicker pace, and mining and quarrying output growth cooled from the prior month.
On an annual basis, industrial production fell 0.4% in calendar-adjusted terms, decelerating from March’s 2.9% contraction. Still, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 1.3%, down from March’s minus 1.2% reading.
