Czech Republic: Industrial output deteriorates in May
Industrial output decreased 2.2% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in May, which contrasted April’s 0.6% increase. Looking at the details of the release, May’s downturn was largely due to a deterioration in manufacturing output. In contrast, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply production rebounded.
On an annual basis, industrial output dropped 3.2% in calendar-adjusted terms in May, which was well greater than April’s 0.4% fall and marking the worst result since September 2023. Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 1.5%, down from April’s minus 1.3% reading.
