Czech Republic: Industrial output shrinks in January
Industrial output fell 1.4% year on year in working-day adjusted terms in January, contrasting December’s 5.0% increase. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output growth eased, while production decreased at a sharper pace for electricity, gas and steam. Meanwhile, output in the mining and quarrying sub-sector contracted at a softer pace.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output dropped 2.7% in January (December: +0.7% mom). Meanwhile, the trend weakened, with the annual average growth in industrial production coming in at 2.2% in January, following December’s 2.5%.
