Czech Republic: Industrial production falls for third successive month in October
Industrial production declined 0.4% year-on-year in working day-adjusted terms in October, which followed a 0.9% contraction recorded in September. The downturn was largely driven by a fall in manufacturing output, particularly of fabricated metal products. Notably, production in the key automotive segment has held solid so far this year, despite weak German car production. Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying industry contracted for the tenth consecutive month in October while the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector swung back to growth.
In seasonally-adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial output dipped 0.1% in October, following the strong 1.1% increase logged in September. Lastly, annual average growth in industrial production edged down to 0.3% from 0.6% in the previous month.
