Denmark: Consumer sentiment continues to gradually improve in March; remains deeply pessimistic
Consumer sentiment improved further in March, coming in at minus 23.1, up from February’s minus 25.1. As such, the index moved closer to, but remained well below, the 0-point threshold, signaling marginally softer pessimism among Danish consumers from the previous month.
Looking at the details of the release, March’s upturn largely reflected an improvement in consumers’ assessment of the country’s current general economic situation compared to a year ago and to a year form today. Moreover, consumers’ views of their financial situation a year form today became marginally optimistic in March, although their assessment of their current financial situation compared to a year ago deteriorated, becoming deeply pessimistic.
