Denmark: Economic sentiment hits highest reading since February 2022 in May
Economic sentiment soared to 103.4 in May from April’s 97.2. May’s result marked the strongest sentiment since February 2022. As a result, the index broke through the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier confidence in the industrial sector. Moreover, confidence in the services sector strengthened in May. Additionally, sentiment in the retail sector improved in the surveyed month, as did consumer sentiment. Less positively, sentiment in the construction sector deteriorated.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index improved in May.
