Denmark: Manufacturing activity declines in March
Manufacturing output decreased 2.3% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in March, which contrasted February’s 5.1% increase. Looking at the details of the release, the downturn was largely due to a contraction in non-durable consumer goods production. This more than offset stronger production in investment goods and intermediate products.
On an annual basis, manufacturing production rose 11.4% in seasonally adjusted terms in March, which was notably below February’s 19.3% expansion. Accordingly, annual average manufacturing output growth fell to 17.0% in March (February: +17.2%), signaling a worsening trend in the manufacturing sector.
