Dominican Republic: Inflation increases in May
Inflation edged up to 3.2% in May from April’s 3.0%. Looking at the details of the release, recreation and culture prices rose at a quicker pace in May compared to the previous month, while price pressures for transport picked up pace.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.7% in May (April: 3.8%). Meanwhile, core inflation was steady, coming in at April’s 4.0% in May.
Finally, consumer prices dropped 0.04% in May over the previous month, a more moderate fall than April’s 0.10% drop.
