Dominican Republic: Inflation remains steady in July
Inflation held steady at June’s 4.0% in July. July’s result marked the weakest inflation rate since June 2020. Looking at the details of the release, recreation and culture prices rose at a quicker pace in July compared to the previous month, which were offset by price pressures for transport easing.
Still, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation falling to 6.5% in July (June: 6.9%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 5.1% in July, from June’s 5.3%.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.45% in July over the previous month, picking up from the 0.22% rise recorded in June. July’s result was the highest reading since January.
