Ecuador: Inflation slides in May
Inflation ticked down to 2.5% in May, following April’s 2.7%. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation increased at a faster pace in May, while prices for food and hospitality rose at a slower pace. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear prices contracted at a softer pace.
Annual average inflation was unchanged at April’s 1.9% in May.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.12% in May over the previous month, swinging from April’s 1.27% rise. May’s result marked the weakest reading since November 2023.
