Ecuador: Inflation rises in August
Consumer prices rose 0.12% over the previous month in August, cooling from July’s 0.53% increase. August’s softer increase was largely attributed to a weaker rise in prices for housing and utilities. Meanwhile, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages slid over the prior month.
Inflation edged up to 0.9% August, above July’s 0.5% increase and logging the highest inflation rate since April 2020. Accordingly, the annual variation in consumer prices improved, coming in at minus 0.7%, following July’s minus 0.9%.
