Egypt: Inflation eases in March
Consumer prices rose 0.8% in March compared to the previous month, down from the 1.7% rise in February. The downtick was due to a weaker increase in fruit and vegetable prices.
Inflation ticked down to 14.2% in March from 14.4% in February, but remained outside of the Central Bank of Egypt’s Q4 CY 2020 target range of 9.0% plus or minus three percentage points. Meanwhile, core inflation decelerated to 8.9% from to 9.2%, and annual average inflation increased slightly to 14.1% from 14.0%.
