Egypt: Inflation rises in February
Consumer prices rose 0.15% over the previous month in February, swinging from January’s 0.42% fall. The bounce back in price pressures was largely driven by a slower decrease in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for transportation also grew mildly.
Inflation came in at 4.5% in February, up from January’s 4.3%. Meanwhile, annual average inflation ticked down to 4.7% in February (January: 4.8%) and core inflation was steady, coming in at January’s 3.6% in February.
