Estonia: Inflation jumps to year-to-date high in April
Consumer prices rose 1.3% from the previous month in April, accelerating markedly from March’s 0.3% uptick and marking the strongest monthly increase in over two years. A breakdown of the sub-components provided by Statistics Estonia showed that 10 of the total 12 saw a rise in prices, led by transport, and clothing and footwear, which more than offset marginally lower prices for communications.
Inflation jumped from 2.3% in March to 3.2% in April, marking the highest reading since December 2018. Meanwhile, annual average inflation ticked up from 3.2% in March to 3.3% in April. Lastly, harmonized inflation also rose to 3.2% in April, from 2.3% in the previous month.
