Euro Area: Economic sentiment broadly unchanged in October
Sentiment in the Eurozone dipped to 93.3 in October from 93.4 in Sweptember. Consequently, the index moved further below its long-run average of 100, signaling persistent albeit moderate pessimism.
Sentiment in the industry and retail trade sectors decreased. However, sentiment in the services and constructions sectors improved. Meanwhile, consumer confidence remained unchanged. Meanwhile, selling price expectations eased in the retail trade sector, remained broadly flat in the industry sector, and rose in the services and construction sectors. Moreover, employment expectations weakened.
In terms of specific countries, sentiment declined in France and Italy while it rose in Germany and Spain and remained unchanged in the Netherlands
