Euro Area: Unemployment rate increases in June
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate ticked up to 6.5% in June from May’s 6.4%.
As for the Eurozone’s largest economies, the unemployment rate rose in Italy, remained stable in Germany, France and the Netherlands, and fell in Spain. Significant disparities in labor market conditions between members persist: Spain is the economy with the highest unemployment rate of 11.5%, followed by Greece (9.6%). At the other end of the spectrum, Malta and Slovenia—with 3.1%—have the lowest unemployment rate.
