Finland: Current account deficit widens in February
The current account posted a EUR 0.6 billion deficit in February, deteriorating from the EUR 0.1 billion deficit booked in January (February 2023: EUR 0.5 billion deficit). Meanwhile, in the 12 months leading up to February, the current account posted a EUR 4.2 billion deficit, compared to the EUR 4.0 billion deficit booked in January.
The merchandise trade balance worsened from the previous month, recording a EUR 0.1 billion surplus in February (January 2024: EUR 0.5 billion surplus). Merchandise exports climbed 5.4% annually in February (January: -9.1% year on year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports also rebounded in February, rising 6.4% in annual terms (January: -11.6% yoy).
