Finland: Current account posts narrower deficit in June
The current account posted a EUR 0.2 billion deficit in June, improving from the EUR 0.8 billion deficit recorded in May (June 2022: EUR 0.2 billion deficit). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account deficit was stable, coming in at May’s EUR 4.9 billion in June.
The merchandise trade balance worsened marginally from the previous month, recording a EUR 0.4 billion surplus in June (May: EUR 0.5 billion surplus). Merchandise exports dived 16.7% year on year in June, following May’s 7.2% drop. June’s result marked the worst decline since May 2020. Additionally, merchandise imports plummeted 19.5% on an annual basis in June (May: -16.9% yoy).
