Finland: Current account swings to deficit in October
The current account posted a EUR 0.3 billion deficit in October, deteriorating from the EUR 0.4 billion surplus clocked in September (October 2021: EUR 1.8 billion deficit). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account deficit improved, coming in at EUR 8.0 billion in October (September: EUR 9.5 billion deficit).
Moreover, the merchandise trade balance was flat in October, weakening from Septembers EUR 0.4 billion surplus. Merchandise exports shot up 19.2% on an annual basis in October (September: +12.0% yoy). Meanwhile, merchandise imports climbed 21.8% over the same month last year in October (September: +19.1% yoy).
