Finland: Current account deficit widens in April
The current account recorded a EUR 3.6 billion deficit in April, deteriorating from the EUR 0.9 billion deficit booked in March (April 2023: EUR 3.5 billion deficit). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account deficit , coming in at EUR 4.6 billion in April (March: EUR 4.5 billion deficit).
The merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a EUR 0.2 billion surplus in April (March 2024: EUR 0.2 billion deficit). Merchandise exports decreased 3.2% year on year in April (March: -36.4% year on year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports increased 6.8% in annual terms in April (March: -24.1% yoy).
