Finland: Decline in monthly economic activity softens in April
Economic activity decreased 0.1% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in April, a smaller drop than March’s 1.1% decrease.
In working-day adjusted terms, the primary sector—which includes the agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing subsectors— plunged in April, and the secondary sector sector swung to contraction. Meanwhile, the services sector sector grew at a weaker pace.
On an annual basis, economic activity dropped 2.3% in April, which was steeper than March’s 2.1% fall and marked the worst result since August 2020. Moreover, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of economic activity coming in at minus 0.9% in April, down from March’s minus 0.7% reading.
