Finland: Monthly economic activity growth speeds up in May
Economic activity increased 0.7% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in May, which was above April’s upwardly revised 0.1% increase.
In working-day adjusted terms, May’s pickup was broad-based. Secondary sector and services sector output gained steam, while the primary sector—which includes the agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing subsectors—contracted at a softer rate.
On an annual basis, economic activity fell 1.9% in May, which was steeper than April’s 1.5% fall. Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of economic activity coming in at minus 1.5%, down from April’s minus 1.2%.
