Finland: Monthly economic activity expands at best pace in six months in September
Economic activity increased 0.6% month-on-month in seasonally adjusted terms in September (August: +0.4% mom). The print marked the best reading since March and came on the back of improved activity the services sector. Meanwhile, the primary sector—which includes the agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing subsectors—weakened.
On an annual basis, economic activity rose at a softer pace of 1.6% in September (August: +1.7% yoy). Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 2.8% in September (August: +3.0%), pointing to a worsening trend.
FocusEconomics panelists project GDP to grow 0.4% in 2023, which is unchanged from last months forecast, and 1.4% in 2024.
