Finland: Harmonized inflation rises in April
Harmonized inflation rose to 0.6% in April, up from March’s 0.5%. The uptick was due to stronger price pressures for alcohol and tobacco, health, and education. In addition, April marked a softer fall in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and housing and utilities. Meanwhile, transport costs declined, and price growth for recreation and hospitality eased.
The trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.3% in April (March: 2.7%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 1.9% in April, from the previous month’s 2.2%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.09% in April over the previous month, contrasting March’s 0.13% fall.
