Finland: Harmonized inflation recedes in January
Harmonized inflation edged down to 1.1% in January, which followed December’s 1.3%. Looking at the details of the release, the moderation reflected housing and utilities prices falling at a more moderate pace in January compared to the previous month, while price pressures for transportation fell.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation falling to 3.8% in January (December: 4.3%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 3.3% in January, from December’s 3.6%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.34% in January over the previous month, picking up from December’s 0.23% increase. January’s result marked the sharpest increase in prices since September 2023.
