France: Business confidence dips in July
In July, the French Statistical Institute’s (INSEE) business climate indicator for the manufacturing sector fell 1 point from a month earlier to 101 points. The indicator thus remained marginally above the 100-point threshold.
July’s deterioration reflected increased pessimism on overall orders, as well as in employment prospects. Moreover, general production expectations weakened. On a brighter note, expectations of personal production remained steady, while projections for inventories of finished-goods improved.
