France: Business confidence falls in July
Business confidence came in at 99.9 in July, down from June’s 100.4. Consequently, the index fell below the neutral 100-threshold, pointing to worsening confidence among businesses.
Looking at the details of the release, the downtick was driven by more pessimistic views on the wholesale sector. On the flip side, sentiment in the retail trade sector improved. Meanwhile, sentiment in the manufacturing, construction and services sectors was unchanged relative to last month.
